How to Add Trusted Connections on Roblox
Trusted connections on Roblox are connections you know in real life, and they unlock more open communication than regular connections. To add one, you must be 13 or older and complete Roblox’s age check; users aged 13 to 17 must also confirm the real-world relationship by scanning a QR code in person or through the contact importer.
What are trusted connections?
Roblox calls the people you add connections (the feature used to be called friends). A trusted connection is a step further: someone you trust enough to chat with across age groups and with fewer restrictions, such as voice calls and chat without the usual filters in some cases.
Who can add trusted connections?
Trusted connections have 2 requirements:
- Age 13 or older, confirmed with Roblox’s age check. The check asks for a short video selfie that estimates your age, or ID verification.
- A real-world relationship for users aged 13 to 17. Adding a trusted connection, whether another teen or an adult, needs a QR code scan or a match through the phone’s contact importer.
If the age check estimates that a user is under 13, Roblox corrects the account’s age and removes features that are not appropriate for that age.
How to add a trusted connection
- Complete the age check from your account settings.
- Make sure the other person is already one of your connections.
- Open their profile or your connections list and choose to add them as a trusted connection.
- If you are 13 to 17, confirm the relationship by scanning their QR code in person or through your phone’s contacts.
Why can’t I add a trusted connection?
The option is usually missing for one of 3 reasons: you have not completed the age check, you are under 13, or the other person has not completed theirs.
Trusted connections also matter for voice chat and for games published to trusted friends; see how to make a Roblox game public.
