How to Get Voice Chat on Roblox (2026 Age Check)
To get voice chat on Roblox, you must be 13 or older and complete Roblox’s age check, then turn voice on inside a game that supports it. Since January 2026, Roblox requires an age check for all of its communication features, and phone verification is no longer accepted for voice chat.
Who can use voice chat on Roblox?
Voice chat has 3 requirements:
- Age 13 or older. Voice chat is not available to users aged 9 to 12.
- A completed age check, through facial age estimation or ID verification.
- A supported country. Voice chat is available to age-checked users in more than 100 countries, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and most of Europe and Latin America.
Users aged 13 to 15 on Roblox Select accounts have in-game voice chat turned off by default; a parent can turn it on through parental controls.
How to turn on voice chat
- Complete the age check from your account settings, if you have not already.
- Join a game that supports voice chat. Its description page says so.
- Select the headphone icon at the top of the screen to connect to voice, or open the in-game settings and switch Voice Chat on.
Once connected, a microphone icon lets you mute and unmute yourself.
Who can you talk to?
After the age check, Roblox places you in an age group, and you can chat with users in similar age groups. You can also talk with your trusted connections. This system exists to limit communication between adults and minors.
Why don’t I see the voice chat option?
If the toggle is missing after you complete the age check, there are 3 likely reasons:
- The game you are in does not support voice chat.
- Voice chat is not available in your country; in that case Roblox suggests ID verification.
- A parental control setting has turned it off.
Voice chat works on computers, phones, tablets, VR headsets, PlayStation and Xbox.
