What Is Roblox Studio?
Roblox Studio is the free application Roblox gives creators to build, script, test and publish every game on the platform. Every Roblox experience you have played was made in it, from a one-room obby to the biggest games on the front page.
What you can do in Roblox Studio
Roblox Studio covers the whole path from an empty baseplate to a published game.
- Build worlds with parts, terrain and models from the Creator Store.
- Script behaviour in Luau, Roblox’s version of the Lua language.
- Test your game locally, with one player or several, before anyone else sees it.
- Publish the game to Roblox and update it whenever you want.
- Monetize it with passes, developer products and in-game items.
What Roblox Studio runs on
Roblox Studio runs on Windows 10 or later and on macOS. It has no official version for phones, tablets, Chromebooks or Linux. On mobile, Roblox is testing a separate AI creation tab called Build instead.
Is Roblox Studio free?
Yes. Downloading and using Roblox Studio costs nothing. Publishing a game so that players of every age can find it does have requirements since May 2026, explained in the guide to making a game public.
