How to Make a Roblox Game Public (2026 Requirements)

By Blox Handbook•

To make a Roblox game public, you publish it from Roblox Studio and then set its access to public in the Creator Hub. Since May 19, 2026, how far a public game can reach depends on the requirements your account meets, so check those first.

How to publish and make a game public

Making a game public takes 4 steps:

  1. In Roblox Studio, choose File > Publish to Roblox and save the game to your account or a group.
  2. Open create.roblox.com, go to your Creations, and select the game.
  3. Complete the Maturity & Compliance questionnaire, so the game receives a content maturity label.
  4. In the game’s settings, change its access from private to public, and save.

Roblox’s publishing requirements since May 2026

On May 19, 2026, Roblox began rolling out new requirements for publishing games. There are now 3 levels:

Who can playWhat your account needs
Only you (personal use)Nothing; anyone can publish for personal use.
Users over 16 and your Trusted FriendsA completed age check, an account in good standing, and an account at least 2 days old.
All ages, including Roblox Kids and Roblox Select accountsAll of the above, plus ID verification and either a Roblox Plus (or Premium) subscription or a one-time, refundable publishing fee of 1,000 Robux per game.

You can check which level your account qualifies for in your account settings.

Why does the all-ages level matter?

Younger players use Roblox Kids (ages 5 to 8) and Roblox Select (ages 9 to 15) accounts, and they can only find games published at the all-ages level. A game that reaches only users over 16 misses a large part of Roblox’s audience.

Can I publish a Roblox game for free?

Yes, for personal use and for users over 16, as long as you complete the age check. Reaching all ages needs ID verification plus either a subscription or the 1,000 Robux fee, which Roblox describes as refundable.
